LOVE YOUR PARK is Saturday, November 14 – all are welcome to hang out and enjoy snacks and help gussy up our park – pick up litter, sweep leaves and pull weeds. 10 am – noon.
Manton Street Park and Community Garden, located at the NW corner of 4th and Manton Streets in Dickinson Square West, is a leisure pocket park and community garden with ten garden plots. The garden and the park is owned by Parks & Rec and maintained by the Friends of Manton Street Park & Community Garden, a non-profit organization of neighbors.
The Friends of Manton Street Park and Community Garden have reclaimed a long-neglected city park and a vacant lot, converting the lot into a community garden for local residents and working with PHS, Fairmount Parks Conservancy and PPR to build a pocket park in the adjoining lot.
The secondary goal of the Friends of Manton Street Park is to promote the increasing vibrancy of Dickinson Square West/ Pennsport – restaurants, coffee shops, parks and community events – and to create a network of friends to share resources and information to keep improving the quality of life in our neighborhood.
